    Under the Canopy

My current obsession with canopy beds probably has a lot to do with my very high ceilings and the urge to fill space.  It could have something to do with my love of curtains; the thought of closing up curtains around me while I sleep is very romantic.  But mostly, I think the obsession stems from the timeless elegance of these beautiful beds.  Check it out.

    A Colorful Teen’s Room

    Via: High Street Market

I love this colorful teen’s room by Betsy Burnham Design.  It’s fun and playful, but still designed for even the most mature connoisseur of design.  The way she mixes patterns and colors really works, and is somewhat unconventional.  I think my favorite part is the bathroom with that fun wallpaper and the snakeskin mirror!

The Lure of the Unmade Bed…

Over the weekend my parents were in town and we did somewhat of an overhaul of my apartment.  I got an oriental rug, a new screen that blocks off the kitchen, and most importantly a new bed.  It’s technically not new, it’s my old brass bed from when I was a kid, and it’s made such a difference in my little room.  In the morning I usually get up and make the bed, but this morning I was in a bit of a rush, and came home to a beautifully unmade bed.  It was calling to me!  I’ve spent the remainder of the evening lounging and couldn’t help but do a post on the lure I feel when I see a comfortable bed that’s not pristine, and I don’t feel guilty about ruining it!

    Monograms in the Bedroom

I’m just dying to get my hands on some new bedding.  My cat, Seamus, has put rips in nearly every set of sheets I have because I have a habit and kicking him out of the bed, and he likes to hang on.  My duvet is great, the Ayelsbury Collection from Anthropologie, but I’d like to get a quilt for the summer when it’s a little too warm for all those feathers.  And I am also short a few pillows.  When I do finally get around to getting new bedding, I’m totally going for a set of pillows with my monogram on them.  I’m inspired by all of these great photos of monograms used on pillows and headboards.  Check them out!

One of the best resources for monogrammed items is The Monogram Shop of East Hampton.  They have a huge selection of home items that you can put your mark on, and some great choices for embroidered patterns.  I’ve placed some of my favorites below, but be sure to check out all of their options by visiting their website above.
